Our generational research builds understanding vs. simply focusing on differences.
We have spent over a decade educating & entertaining clients with this content packed program.
Using the DECK model developed by Olivia McIvor you will learn how to D.evelop, E.ngage, C.ollaborate and K.eep each generational cohort.
"I Am My Work"
The whistle call reminds us of a generation whose command strategy is a regimented march, based on a paramilitary approach to life and work.
Born in the Industrial Age, this cohort has maintained a remarkably strong work ethic which is demonstrated by working hard with your hands, paying your dues with experience, and demonstrating true grit.
Loyal to church, marriage and institutions therefore their approach to almost everything formal and enduring.
"I Live to Work"
Moving away from the command policy of their parents, the puzzle palette demonstrates a collective mindset imprinted to build more interpersonal & collaborative relationships within their lives & work. A prominent sword held high reminds us of a clan who advanced intentionally to change inequity in the world, as they broke crucial ground to establish the women, civil and human rights movements. The sharp pencil replaces the blades and women begin to take center stage in the world of work as they step into careers ranging from the front line to the boardroom.
I Work to Live"
A basketball illustrates this cohort’s
perseverance in attaining life-work balance,
as their mantra. This clan is deep-rooted in an entrepreneurial paradigm as company loyalty has disintegrated. These latchkey kids were raised to be independent and are profuse with bright and innovative Ideas —willing to take risks and to
‘think out of the box.’ The textbook reminds us of their passion for higher learning
and information gathering.
Hard workers, multitaskers, idea sharers with an unwillingness to put work before family.
" I Work to Play"
Well established in the frontier of technology, this progressive generation thinks and acts with a global, interconnected approach. The cell phone is not for talking, but texting, and clicks out the message, “I work to play.” An enthusiastic cohort who collectively sees the world as open and available—where they have access to everything, and everything is a conduit to them. A savvy group who sees the possible all around them, and luckily, they carry built-in fraud detectors. They are bursting with questions and will use technology to find out the answers to who, what, where, when, why and of course, how.
" I Work for Purpose & Security"
With many common qualities and characteristics of their Gen M cousins, there are distinct trademarks of this cohort that give them the Mi title. The internet world and the handheld devices, apps and vocal intelligence surround them. Global technology circles them like a halo- influencing their choices, decision, and actions. From the global environment to crowdsourcing, the shared economy to gender identity--they choose to live, and thrive in an inclusive and transparent world where they know they can make a difference, yet are realistic, practical and have wholeheartedly returned to the traditions of their grandparents.
Based on Olivia McIvor’s 2010 bestselling book, Four Generations One Workplace: Sharing in the Information Age (New edition Five Generations, One Workplace due out Spring 2022) this program moves beyond the traditional view of employees and through the lens of the power of diversity, closing the gap on ageism, and building on strengths to help us better understand the critical need for establishing common ground amongst five competing personalities.
Ms. McIvor program touches on best practices for engagement, compelling social research and combatting wrongful perceptions in order to create the fabric of a respectful workplace ripe for recruitment and retention. With multiple video clips, colorful PowerPoint and humorous quips and a non-buttoned-down approach, she promises to take the mystique out of how to interpret, interact, and get the best from the range of individuals in the workforce today. Regardless of age or position, everyone is equally responsible to foster collaborative relationships across the spectrum of generations.
This learning program is built to be experiential no matter your group's age or role within the team. It is engaging, validating, at times emotional and at other times hilarious. Whether you are looking to attract and retain people, build collaboration, or simply want to understand your team, your teens and your parent, this program never, ever disappoints.
